I’m always delighted for the opportunity to work with The Salvation Army. This time it was the 2016 Red Shield Doorknock, a mammoth nationwide fundraising effort. Tens of thousands of volunteers were mobilised to take to the streets, knock on doors and appeal to the generosity of the Australian public. This year’s effort raised almost $5 million for vitally important Salvos work.
I photographed some of the action in the Sydney suburbs of Hurstville and Menai. I was struck but the energy and enthusiasm of the volunteers and officers. Not to mention the logistical achievement of pulling it all together…
